Dr Nearchos Paspallis

Dr Nearchos Paspallis is a former Fulbright Scholar, specializing in mobile and distributed computing. He is an Associate Professor of Computing at UCLan Cyprus and the Deputy Head of the School of Sciences. He holds a BEng in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras (2001), an MSc in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2002), and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cyprus (2009). Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK, since 2014.

He has participated to multiple EU and nationally funded projects, including FP5, FP6, FP7, H2020, Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, and others. He is also the founder of Code Cyprus (https://codecyprus.org) a yearly event which aims at “organizing fun, entertaining and educating events [with a goal of] promoting the value and beauty of computer programming to teenagers in Cyprus and beyond”.

In his capacity as Resident Expert at the non-profit organisation ICLAIM, Dr Paspallis supports the centre in relation to computing and software technology, as an enabler for achieving ICLAIM’s mission.

Currently, Nearchos participates to the PREPARED project and specifically to the development of transformative learning with the development of a mobile app.
