Andy Georgiou holds a BA in Law from the University of Cambridge (2009–2012) and was awarded an honorary Master of Arts in Law by the same institution in 2018. He started practicing law in Cyprus in 2013 as a trainee lawyer and in 2014 he successfully passed the Cyprus Bar and was obtained his license. Through the years he specialized in civil, administrative, and criminal litigation and has represented clients and handled cases at all levels of the Cypriot courts, including the Supreme Court, Assize Court, Administrative Court, and District Courts, covering a wide range of legal issues in both public and private law. Since 2020 he has been leading his own law firm.
In addition to his legal practice, Andy has been involved in various Civil Society Organizations. His participation has focused on human rights, environmental issues, and promoting peace and bicommunal cooperation between the divided communities of Cyprus. He has contributed to several initiatives aimed at advancing human rights and fostering dialogue in the region.
In 2023, Andy took on the role of Project Coordinator for Embrace: Rights for Reconciliation, a two-year EU-funded project managed by the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Center and ICLAIM. The project was designed to address ongoing human rights violations related to the Cyprus Problem. It involved providing a platform for reporting violations via an online complaint form, advocating specific policy changes to both local and international policymakers, and strategically initiating litigation to address recurring human rights violations.
